A word from Rick
In the past I have had accomplishments, and mistakes. I have made
good decisions, and bad ones. I have been a good leader and a
procrastinator.
The past is over, and done with; and there is nothing I can do to
change it. But the future has not been set yet, and it is up to me
to mold it, and make the most of it. I need to use my past
experiences as learning experiences, to help me have a better future.
School has provided me with the knowledge; church has provided me with
a moral compass; sports have provided me with physical health; and
scouting has provided me with leadership skills. I need to use all of
those experiences to help me become a better person.
Some of my immediate goals are to get good grades in high school, and
go to college. I would like to stay active in sports, and improve my
playing ability in football and soccer, and improve my times in track.
I need to continue attending Mass on a regular basis, and deepen my
relationship with God.
In scouting, I would like to continue being Junior Assistant
Scoutmaster, and help out my troop as much as I can, as an advisor
to the Senior Patrol Leader. I feel I need to give back to the troop,
and I enjoy being in an advisory position.
In the long run, I would like to earn a degree in engineering, because
I enjoy maths, and have earned high grades in the maths classes that
I have taken.
After college, I want to donate my time to helping the Boy Scouts, and
Church, when I am not working. I feel I need to give back to the
scouts, and church, because they have been a big part of my life, and
have helped me to become a better person.
I would also like to keep good relations with my family and friends,
over the years, and not grow apart. I have made good friends, in
scouts and at church, that are high quality people, and are worth
trying to stay in touch with. I would like to make new friends, but
not forget the old.
I would also like to do as much traveling as I can. I would like to
spend time driving around the United States, and Canada, and also
go on a lot of backpacking trips around places that would interest me.
On a more general note, I would like to be a good leader. A moral
person that lives by the Twelve Points of the Scout Law, and the Ten
Commandments. I want to stay active in life and stay healthy. I would
like to be a person that could be looked at as a role model. I need
to use all of the skills and qualities that I have learned in scouts,
church, school, and sports to be the best person I can be.
